A total disappointment onboard a Singapore Airlines flight.
April 3, 2008 – 3:02 pmAyeee. I’m back! [:
Hit Singapore at around 8 sharp last night; the flight from Brisbane to Singapore was an unexpectedly unhappy and the experience was unfortunately bad. it was the first time I ever felt so disappointed on a SIA ( Singapore Airline) flight. want to know why? its because of the air-stewards & stewardesses.
The air-stewardess who was serving the area I was seated was ONE; super-unfriendly, TWO; her face was not smiley at all, when i didn’t even owe her any money! THREE; i think she’s bias! in what way? I think she forgot she herself was a Chinese too, and she was bias towards the Caucasians. It just happened a Caucasian family was seated behind my row, and there were two kids and an adult. After ‘receiving’ her attitude towards us, she made a 360 degree change in her face and was all-smiley when she attended to the Caucasian kiddies behind me. Whats made it evident was that they were really a pain in the ass, and made hell-lots of noise and had lots of requests, when I only merely requested for what I wanted, and they were treated with a better attitude! it might all be my perception of things happening but thats exactly how i felt.
when I called for her using ‘Excuse me’ when she was walking thru the aisle or serving people, she purposely didn’t reply me/ look at me until she’s done with the pouring of a drink or whatever she’s doing. so I had to say it a few times because at first i thought she didn’t hear me! and when i asked for another ‘BUN’ she couldn’t understand me, and gave me the ‘huh’ face for umpteen times and she finally said ‘BREAD?’ what a total turn-off.
when my mummy asked for Chinese tea from one of the air-steward, he told my mummy off and said ‘we’re not travelling towards HongKong or China so we don’t serve Chinese tea.’ I suppose I was sleeping when this happened, ‘cos I was told of it later on. I wanted to ask that fellow air-steward the same thing but i was a tad disappointing cos he was serving another area opposite me. damn! whats most irritating is that when my mummy asked him, she already had her 2nd/3rd cup of Chinese tea served to her by the other air-stewards. we purposely asked for Green tea later on, and that air-stewardess I mentioned above told me the same thing, ‘we’re not travelling to Japan so I’m not sure if we do have Green tea’. In the end, they served us with it. ;D
and and and. my mummy had to ask 4 different air-stewardess/steward for Playing Cards before she finally got one pack. i’m serious, this is the worst ever experience I had onboard a SIA flight.
when the plane was about to descend to land in s’pore, they started to collect back the head phones and my mummy’s friend, purposely didn’t want to! =p until they closed the KrisWorld thingy and we couldn’t watch any more movies. hehe, we were all pissed by the attitude of the flight attendants.
on the contrary, our flight towards Brisbane from Singapore was a total different experience, and it was my best experience on board ( meaning the rest are normal, but good enough ). the air-stewardess were always smiling and they were really really efficient, compared to my return trip. i never had good memory, but i could well enough remember the difference. and there was this Mr-Nice-Air-Steward who was exceptionally nice, he was friendly and all, and and, he treated mummy and I with Ben and Jerry’s ice cream. I suppose its for Business/First class, but well he treated us with that. I hope thats not illegal but he’s just nice, and he tells good jokes! so comparitively, it was really a huge difference, which makes me so fuming mad mad mad!
i may sound like a damn fussy pot here. however you see it, its my opinions, so no offence yeah! [:
if you’re interested, i might reveal the flight number i was onboard.

I will agree that the service standards of SIA have been going down. Just like you described, I have experienced amazing service from them on many many trips.
But my two recent trips had worser experience. Similar to you, lack of attention by Stewardesses and unprofessional and non-smooth operations.
Maybe it’s cost cutting? But yea.. I hope it improves.. :)

I fly Singapore Airlines a lot and I have never had a bad or mediocre experience ever.
It seems you were unfortunate this time. What flight was it?

>NTT, i agree with you too. my first first unpleasant trip.. but i dont think cost cutting should lower the standards of the stewardesses! it should maintain at least..

Ha.. SIA is getting worse, but then not as worst or bad compared to the rest of airline.
Anyway, i am not a fans of SIA, so i believed that the standard of SIA is getting Bad. ..
SIA, please do something about it.. or else your A340 is mean nothing to Singapore.
